VMware Server 1.0.x can be managed by Virtual Center 1.4.

VMware Server 2.0 can be managed by vCenter Server 2.5 with an evaluation license, but you can't get an official license in order to do this. The VMware Server FAQ states: "VMware Server 2 cannot be managed by VMware vCenter Server 2.5.  There are no centralized (multi-host) management options available for VMware Server 2."

This seems more like a political issue than a technical one.
